January Birchbox

January's Birchbox had much cuter packaging than my previous one. I think I can even reuse this box as storage in the future. As for the contents, I mostly received skincare and haircare products vs. makeup. 

I was slightly disappointed because I prefer receiving makeup products more than the beauty products. Nonetheless, they all seem to be good products to sample.

Today I received my first Birchbox, thanks to my friends who subscribed me into this as a birthday gift. This is also Birchbox's first Canadian mailbox so it will be interesting to see if they will have different products compared to the US.

Ciaté Candy Cane House Christmas Nails

It's a week till Christmas and I'm so excited for all the Christmas parties and dinners coming up this weekend! So thankful that I received this Ciaté Candy Cane House nail polish set from my friend who does pretty nail polish reviews and tutorials on Not Quite Five.

Came just in time to do a festive design for the holiday season :)

First Digital Perm Experience

I have always wanted to get a perm for wavy hair but was reluctant for the longest time because everyone said it is hard to maintain and very damaging to your hair. But after worrying for so long, I finally decided to do it. My hair was getting too long and I wanted a change from straight hair.

The salon I went to is called Chura Hair Salon, located in downtown Vancouver. This place was recommended to me by my cousin since she had her perm done there several times. It's a Japanese hair salon with all Japanese stylists and I had a very friendly stylist name Maki to perm my hair. This salon is very affordable for a cut and digital perm compared to many other places in Vancouver. They charged $120 before tax and tips, while many places charge $200 - $300+.

The service was very good once I arrived. As usual, they will start off washing your hair before they cut it. One issue I had was just the language barrier. When I tried explaining the size of the curls I wanted, it seemed like she didn't quite get me. I just tried pointing at the pictures of the desired curls I want and asked her again to reassure she got my message.

The Face Shop - Modeling Gel Patch Lip Mask

I have been wanting to try these gel lip masks for a while and when The Face Shop newly opened several months ago, I bought one to try for myself. This product looks very fun and interesting to use!

The instructions on the packaging said to give your lips some "face yoga" before application. By face yoga, they meant puckering your lips a few times... That's the first time I heard of this term, haha! So I did this before putting the gel patch on my lips but I don't think it made much difference.
